Absolutely mammoth new album from Savannah, Georgia’s KYLESA - transcending punk, crust, metal and doom, “Time Will Fuse It’s Worth” captures the urgent, driving force of contemporary forward thinking heavy music. 

Since this Savannah, Georgia, quintet first formed in early 2001, worrying about genre limitations has never been a priority. Taking musical chances, however, always has been. While Kylesa are as heavy as any band out there, they are beholden to no one scene, punk, hardcore, metal, doom, crust, or otherwise. Kylesa ranges far and wide, using their utter disregard of musical boundaries to bring together avant-garde experimentalism with the pure fury of dirty, sludge riffs and raw, impassioned male and female vocals. There is a relentless intensity to their music, from the ambient noise interludes that sometimes link songs to the doom-inspired punishment they are capable of dishing out with dual drop-tuned guitars.

The vocal dynamic between Cope, Pleasants and bassist/vocalist Corey Barhorst is perhaps the defining element of Kylesa's sound, whilst this time around the recent addition of drumming duo Jeff Porter and Carl McGinley further expands the bands range. “When we first started the band, we had planned on having two drummers but it didn't work out so now it feels like everything is coming together,” Pleasants says. “There is definitely a new level of intensity to Kylesa now. Since the new lineup has gotten together we have felt the strongest creative spark yet.”

The band's reluctance to attach itself to one sound or scene and to not play by conventional rules has ultimately made it that much more versatile. Their heavy touring schedule has found them sharing bills with bands as diverse as High On Fire, Circle Takes the Square, Coliseum, Torche, and Darkest Hour, as well as playing to enthusiastic crowds throughout Europe. "While we are no kings of one scene," says Cope, "we have, in a sense, just developed our own thing.” TIME WILL FUSE ITS WORTH only reinforces that premise.
