Globally acclaimed musician, producer and songwriter Steven Wilson releases his eighth studio album “The Overview”.

 

The 42-minute work, consisting of two epic tracks - “Objects Outlive Us” and “The Overview” - is inspired by the “Overview Effect”, a transformative experience experienced by astronauts looking at the Earth from space.

 

With “The Overview”, Wilson returns to his progressive roots, a genre he was instrumental in shaping. The two ambitious tracks are made up of unique musical sections that flow seamlessly into one another, combining classic Prague elements with modern influences such as electronics and post-rock. The lyrics, partly written by XTC's Andy Partridge, tell stories about the beauty and challenges of life on earth.

 

The album reflects 30 years of Wilson's career, with echoes of Porcupine Tree, The Raven That Refused to Sing and The Future Bites. As always, Wilson delivers an audiophile experience: “The Overview” will be available in Spatial Audio and as a specially mastered half-speed vinyl.
