CRUCIFIXION

 More from this Band

Label: HIGH ROLLER

Famous for three highly-collectable singles released between 1980 and 1984 Crucifixion were one of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal’s foot soldiers who, like many other bands, should have been given the opportunity to record an album had anyone had the foresight to offer them a deal. Instead, their legacy is just ‘After The Fox’, released in 1980 on Miramar Records, and ‘Take It Or Leave It’ and the 12” EP ‘Green Eyes’, both of which appeared on Neat.

At the core of the band were Glyn Morgan (lead guitar/vocals) and his younger brother Pete (drums),  Geoff Ford (rhythm guitar) and bassist Chris Mann who signed up just after their debut single had been recorded. A dedicated vocalist, Ray Brown, joined in time to appear on two of the tracks on ‘Green Eyes’ although the band hit the buffers not long afterwards, splitting up before the end of 1984.

In their brief lifetime Crucifixion recorded three sessions at Spaceward Studios as well as two at Neat’s Impulse Studios, and the results of all this studio time are captured on this album. Starting with their first release, ‘After The Fox’ and its B-side ‘Death Sentence’, ‘After The Fox’ rounds up all the tracks officially released as singles at the time as well as a number of recordings that remained in the vaults. Of particular interest are an alternate mix of ‘Jailbait’ – bassist Chris Mann maintains that the version Neat included on the ‘Green Eyes’ EP wasn’t the version the band had intended to release – and a rough version of a ‘lost’ song entitled ‘Sacrifice’.
