The Nightingales seemed destined to land in the cult band waste paper basket until the Stewart Lee-narrated documentary King Rocker lifted the lid on their genius. This has led somewhat to a resurgence and The Awful Truth continues where 2022's The Last Laugh left off with more brutal and sardonic post-punk led by the acerbic one liners of Robert Lloyd.
