Atlantis was started in 2006 as a solo project by Gilson Heitinga taking influences from film scores, noise, doom, 70 psychedelia, ambient & electronica as well as Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, Neurosis, Portishead, SWANS, Clint Mansell. After hearing a number of demos Atlantis was signed to Field Records to release the debut album Carpe Omnium in 2007 receiving great reviews. To support this release a live band was formed and their first show was at the Dutch Incubate Festival. Atlantis toured the first half of 2012 in support of the La Petite Mort EP including playing the infamous Roadburn Festival, and Belgians Dunk!Festival. After the 4 previous releases and tours all over Europe, it was time to do things a bit different. Gilson started writing and recording the new full-length between August 2012 until December 2012. Being inspired by the overwhelming sound of the live band, it was decided to record live drums (instead of programming them), more guitars, more analog synths AND more vocals to create a spectrum of sound and noise that would smash into a living room as well as a live environment. Having collaborated on Mistress Of Ghosts with the singer Big from Germany and on the La Petite Mort EP with Swedens Johannes Persson (from Cult Of Luna), it was this time Sanne Mus (a professionally trained classical vocalist) who brought her voice and skills to the table on the songs "And She Drops The 7th Veil" and "Omen". And so here it is, the new Atlantis album : OMENS sonically inspired by the Atlantis live band and the emotions that come to play as things change and you can sense there are events going to happen, positive as negative.
