STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN

 More from this Band

BROADCAST FROM STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN FROM SAN ANTONIO IN 1987
Probably the finest blues guitarist to have emerged since Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan remains, despite his premature and tragic death in 1990, the blueprint player for the current generation. In late 1986 Stevie Ray began the Live Alive Tour, backed by his regular group Double Trouble. Although initially uncertain whether he could maintain his previous high standards of musicianship on stage, the first few dates quelled all concerns and the shows played across the next two years were considered to be some of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble’s best ever performances. The show included on this double LP set is from the earliest part of the tour, when Stevie and the band played the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, on 1st February 1987. Still refreshed and enthusiastic about their future, they play a scorching set packed with SRV classics, while providing further evidence to fans and critics alike that the man’s extraordinary musical skills were as potent as they ever had been.
