Now a consolidated and recognized hard-working international act, this time around the band focused on its Portuguese cultural/musical heritage and wrote an intense-yet-exotic album, with multiple layers that result in an ever-more-distinctive effort. Extreme, yet funny, and full of details that make you want to listen to the songs over and over again, Porntugal showcases a band at the top of their game, supported by a powerful production that enriches the first-class writing skills of the four-piece set.

The album contains some of the craziest/funniest/stupidest lyrics out there. Some of them are written in Mirandese (Portugal’s second official language, spoken mainly by elders in the band’s region), while others are in a bizarre French-ish pidgin used by the large swaths of portuguese emigrate workers in France, Belgium and Switerzerland. There are old sayings mixed with the usual nonsense, a lot of traditional folk instruments like bagpipes, and an enhanced brutallity level – all resulting in a powerful, charming and unique listening experience.
