Rad Girlfriend Records is proud to reissue the classic 1996 5th album by pop punk legends The Queers.
Rad Girlfriend Records is proud to reissue "Don't Back Down" on CD, the seminal fifth album by pop punk band The Queers, originally released on Lookout! Records in 1996.
It was remastered by Mass Giorgini and includes 3 songs from the Bubblegum Dreams EP, along with the original liner notes and lyrics.
On "Don't Back Down", The Queers explore whole new areas of pop harmonies that were only hinted at on previous records.
There's even a 60s style Farfisa organ on "Janelle, Janelle" and "Punk Rock Girls". They definitely haven't said goodbye to their own style of bare bones, in your face punk rock, as evidenced by such cute little ditties as "I'm Okay, You're Fucked" and "Brush Your Teeth" but the reason this album truly stands out is because throughout their career, The Queers have been able to maintain their sense of humor without being corny and have been able to combine that with unforgettable melodies and harmonies showcased on songs like "No Tit", "Born to do Dishes" and "I Only Drink Bud".
Joe Queer has written some of the best pop punk songs in the world and this record highlights The Queers ability to do just that.
Kembrew McLeod of Allmusic regarded the album as an artistic peak, stating that "the Queers successfully use the musical vocabularies developed by the Ramones (as well as Brian Wilson and others) and take their songs to new levels" and "some of the songs, dare it be said, even surpass many of Brian Wilson's perfect pop songs." Don't back down features cover songs from the The Beach Boys, The Hondells, The Catalogues and The Muffs.
"Don't Back Down" features 14 songs that range from butt-slamming classic punk rock to exquisite and beautifully crafted pop.
A fan favorite and quite possibly their best work, anyone who gets to see The Queers perform songs from "Don't Back Down" are in for a real treat.
