6 tracks in 15 minutes is hardly what youd call an album - but this debut work from New Jerseys The Dillinger Escape Plan harks from 1997, and showcases the bands proto metal + hardcore mix in its early unexpurgated glory. "Monticello" still features now and again in the bands live set and this record displays such rabidly intense stop/start/twist on a dime musicianship that on its release DEP pretty much kick-started a whole newgenre of complex metalcore. Tipped as ones to watch in 2002, their star continues to rise to this day.
